In my opinion, the 2GB version of the Pi 5 has the perfect balance of price, compatibility and features. I have one running a home assistant server and another as a decoration piece running shaders on a HyperPixel 4.0 display. You don't need more RAM than 2GB for most applications....
Perfect little display for art projects and the like! It has a high contrast, solid build quality, and 60Hz smooth motion. Paired with a Raspberry Pi 5's improved VideoCore VII GPU, it's currently displaying my shaders as a decoration inside my PC. The installation was very straightforward, with all standoffs...
The Raspberry Pi USB 3 Hub is ideal if you need to have multiple USB3 devices that consume a lot of power, the USB-C input makes sure that you have enough power to deliver these devices, like in my case, powering up 4 external USB3 external harddrives, where doing the...
Great screen for a picture frame. Great service from Pimoroni customer support.
Good value and performs well. It gives the image a different feel from a backlit screen - a matte finish that doesn't glow in the room. It really does look like a printer image on paper, and the colours...
From a basic test, it seems to work well. I haven't yet tested the full capabilities of this yet, but I'm hoping it will provide good transfer speeds, and the optional power input will be handy to power some accessories that could be a strain otherwise.
I wanted a light monitor that I could quickly and easily set up, and when I saw the black variant became available, I felt this was worth it. I don't own any other similar monitors to compare against - my other monitors are much larger and intended to be...
Perfect PSU for Raspberry Pi 5. High quality that will help to avoid power supply problems you might experience with other PSU. Over the top for older versions of Raspberry Pi. Black colour is great.
Used with NVME storage via PCI interface. Great performance yet it only sips power. There is an amazing range of accessories for a SBC. The star of the show though is Raspberry Pi OS that has been well supported by Raspberry Pi for many years, ensuring that...
Great quality image and video. This camera has a convenient compact size. Super easy to use with Raspberry Pi OS on Raspberry Pi 4. No case supplied so you will either need to 3D print your own or buy as accessory. Supplied with ribbon cable, that was...
You should provide a longer flat cable PCIE connections.
Also you should move the position of the connector on NVME as it will cover the MicroSD card, blocking any kind of extraction of it.
Nice to have is also a kind of heat cooler in case we will use HAilo 8, and...
The Lipo shim module worked as expected. And fits in perfectly. But I had some hard time soldering the pico to shim (I am bad at soldering). Wish there had been an option where it snaps in or plugs without any soldering.
Does what it says and a clean solution for the use of homeassistant. The unit is solidly built and has worked flawlessly so far. Only slight annoyance are the very bright status LEDs.
This is a good base unit fitting to the bottom of pi 5 works absulutley fine and is easy to install, only drawback is finding a suitable case hence the 4 stars otherwiase it would be 5.
Good communicatons. Arrived promptly. Straight forward to assembled and plug into network. Needed a little coaxing to establish itself on the network. Adding some clients eg Sonos and TP-Link smart plugs straight forward and by and large automatic. However, others require more than a basic knowledge of networks and some...
Last Raspberry Pi I tried was the 3B+ and the difference with the 5 is huge (especially with 8gb RAM). Weirdly enough, it was cheaper to buy it at Pimoroni and import it to the other side of the world, rather than buying it here!
Since it is now possible to boot on an NVMe drive, I wanted to try making a RAID boot drive using two M.2 SSDs, and it worked! Would be awesome to have PCIE v3 speeds, but it already does a solid job!
It's quite good! One bad thing is that my breadboard may not have made it work correctly but that's not the wires fault. It is a great product, would buy again.
Let me count the ways I love this awesome kit:
1. No soldering required
2. Easy to follow online instructions
3. Solid and sturdy build all around
4. Beautiful screen
5. Literally oozes retrogaming nostalgia
Like a good homecooked meal, it's really nothing short of a complete joy to make and then enjoy!
Some suggestions to the...
Easy to fit, especially as the hat has the correct knurled securing nut. No faffing about with tiny set screws and nuts, like other boards I considered.
Transferred my OS from the sd card using the standard raspberry pi tool. Boot time is now a lot quicker.,
Arrived on time. A doddle to set up especially as the hat came with the ribbon cable already attached. Software side was relatively easy but the drive icon doesn’t appear on the desktop. Highly recommended.
It has plastic legs to angle the screen which looked fragile in the images, but seem sturdy in use. The frame fits around the back edge making it seem more like a tablet and less likely to be damaged by handling. It can be assembled in landscape, portrait, upright or...
I'm using my Raspberry Pi SSD to store and index several thousand pdf files. It's performing very well indeed: fast and reliable. Setup was a breeze using assembly instructions from the Raspberry Pi website and OS setup info from Pimoroni. I'm very happy with the hardware, and Pimoroni shiifed quickly...
I used Presto to create a clock. This clock features a calendar function, slideshow functionality, and the ability to display pre-set messages.
Development was highly efficient as I implemented it using MicroPython, allowing me to complete the project in a very short time. Calibrating the clock via WiFi is straightforward, making...
On behalf of our small Electronics Club I ordered 3 x Pimoroni Pico Displays 2.8" that arrived very swiftly.
They are indeed very well-made pieces of technology. However, we were all disappointed that there were no specific 'quick start' instructions included PLUS there was nothing specific to this new 2.8" product...
My favourite Pico Plus 2 W PCB as it has the i2c stemma/qt 5 connector on it for sensors keeping the wiring tidy. It also has excellent MicoPython Support for external devices / sensors with lots of examples. 😊
Love the fact it has the STEMMA QT / Qwiic connectors so that you can daisy chain your i2c devices.
Haven't got it working with MicoPython yet (not a fan of Circuit Python) but i'm sure i will soon solve it.
This is an ideal device for a photo stand.
Thanks to the Inky Frame 7.3 and its excellent combination with the Pico2W, anyone can easily create an ultra-low-power, battery-operated large-screen photo stand.
If you pre-process full-colour images using the JJN algorithm or similar techniques to reduce colours, you can achieve higher-quality image...

A great little PCB at a verry competitive price. I just wish they would add the Qwiic/Stemma QT connector for i2c comms on as i'm not a big fan of the DuPont connectors. I gues this would put the price up however.
A great display and with all the supporting MicroPython examples that worked straight away.
It's a shame some of the larger displays (by other vendors) dont have such a good MicroPython support.
A short tidy cable ideal if used in conjunction with the QT 5 port hub allowing multiple sensors (TOF,9-DOF,Temperature/Humidity/Pressure sensors to name just a few). Keeps the wiring short/tidy/reliable.
A great cable if you main Pico Main PCB has the Qwiic/Stemma QT connector fitted (like Pico Plus2/w or Pico Lipo by PiMoroni). I'm not a great fan of the DuPont connectors as they are realy untidy and sometimes unreliable if the mess of wiring is disturbed (like your Robot...
A great little PCB if you have external sensors with the matching Qwiic/Stemma QT to connect up as it makes the wiring a lot neater and certainly more reliable than the DuPont connectors on most PCB's.
It's a shame there aren't more manufacturer's (like yourself) that are making sensor PCB's with...
I bought this to add digital IO pins, ADC input and PWM output to my Presto which has only I2C for Input/Output. It is really easy to connect and I've found it to be really useful.
Very easy to connect to my zigbee network and add to my own home automation rather than using sonoff cloud. Now controls 2 lights with inaccessible switches using single press, double press and long press. Ideal for what I wanted and a good price. Quick delivery next day too!
Used it for a small museum, allowing visitors to go upstairs or to wait for the next presentation. Programmed with micopython as I2C-slave. Had to dig into 2350 datasheets to find the registers to set. Is now working greatly, as designed.
This is a great little device - I'm using it to switch some driveway lights after sunset - and fits easily in a small junction box. Links to Zigbee OK. Will surely be buying some more of these. Delivery was prompt and painless. Thanks!
Compared to previous versions, this one is more powerful and works perfectly, Uning it as a linux box to program a Lego mindstorm unit, it is quick in compilation and I have not issue with it.
Arrived promptly. Had no trouble developing code on it in micro python using VScode. So far code written for Pi Pico 1 seems to run fine on this.
Great bang per buck compared with Arduino equivalents.
So, I bought this to see what it could do as an experiment. Bearing in mind this is a little over a tenner - roughly 4 coffees from a well known chain - it is amazing. I have it set-up working as a desktop which can do emails and the...
This was my second case. I bought the first to enclose a pi zero I’d bought for Flightradar24 receiving station. I bought the second to fit another pi zero I got to just prat about with and see what it could do. For half a dozen pounds it is...
I've attached it to a garden gate by by placing inside a waterproof enclosure. Since the distance to the magnet is larger than specified I've used a stronger magnet than the one supplied. This has been working flawlessly.
I have no doubt that the supplied magnet would work well if mounted...
I was surprised how quickly I could get this device up and running with some python code I worked on over the weekend. Quick and easy to put together, and easy to start drawing to the device. Only gotchas I ran into were for things that Micro Python...
