What is Matter?
Matter is the clever new kid on the block for smart home connectivity, created by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) – the same organisation behind Zigbee and Z-Wave. In collaboration with tech giants like Amazon, Apple, Google, and Samsung, Matter was developed to address two major challenges:
- Compatibility Chaos: Devices that don’t work well together across different manufacturers or controllers.
- Security Woes: Vulnerabilities, unreliable updates, and cloud dependency leaving smart homes exposed.
